I’m a web developer and have been since May 12th 2000. I specialise in PHP development, but I’ve used all sorts of technologies in my time, from VB, to C#, Java… you name, I’ve probably had some requirement to get my hands dirty with it at some point.
This site, however, will be focussed on my great passion for PHP development. Not for hacking up messy amateur code, but for doing things properly. I’m a die hard advocate of OO development, and a fanatic about making things right for the user.
Furthermore, there are a few things about PHP development sites that tend to bug me, and I promise I’ll aim to quash these horrid nags on this blog. The first one is overly complicated examples. If you’re trying to show somebody how to create a web service, then doing so by building a fully functioning book shop just confuses the matter. The object is to educate, not show off, so if I do post any examples, then I will make sure they follow this rule.
Secondly, incomplete examples really bug me. I’m not talking about broken code here, I mean code that isn’t “real world”. For example, try and find a tutorial about creating a PHP SOAP web service. You’ll find thousands, but all of them are useless since nobody explains how to create the WSDL file. So my second promise, is that I will endeavour to keep things real world.
My background has been mainly involved with internet marketing, so I will be offering commentary on that too.
Finally, why Jesus Blog? Well, because I owned the domain name, and decided to use it. You won’t find any religious content on this site, mainly, but not limited to the fact that I’m an unwavering atheist.
On that note, I hope you find it all useful to some extent.
